When to come

Best months, at a glance

Exotics can be hunted any day of the year, but antler cycles and Gulf Coast summer heat decide when trophies are at their best.

Comanche Tank

A bass lake that only sees eight boats a week

Built in 1987 and stocked with Florida-strain largemouth in 2009, Comanche Tank is fed by a Mission River backwater and managed strictly catch-and-release. Fish it from a bass boat, a kayak, or the timber dock below the lodge.

  • Two Lowrance-rigged bass boats and four kayaks, free for guests
  • Flooded timber, a rock dam and two grass flats
  • Half-day guided trips at first light or last light
  • Barbless hooks and a weigh-and-release cradle on every boat
